Robyn Marie, born in Manotick, Ontario, has always had an eye for beauty and creation. Growing up in a large, creative family, Robyn was constantly surrounded by music and design. It was only until 2009 where Robyn began to harness her talent and really focus on the visual arts. Attending the Ottawa School of Art, she began to build her portfolio by expanding her practise in areas such as print, sculpture/installation, and painting. Although knowledgable in many different media, Robyn focuses on traditional painting styles and really has the ability to create motion, meaning, and gesture through her application in paint.
Currently studying at the Ontario College of Art and Design University in Toronto, Ontario, Robyn’s style of painting focuses on bringing back the relevance of paint in art practise. Working with the textures and different viscosities of paint and letting the medium speak for itself is what she strives for. Robyn also has a keen interest in exploring the relationship between digital painting and more traditional styles such as paint on canvas and how the medium of paint can stand against the ever growing popularity of the digital.
Preparing for her thesis study, Robyn continues to explore in glitch art and projection along with expanding her knowledge of her process in art making, and the meaning of the new materials she uses.
Robyn contributes creative new design to DU Lifestyle while selling her own work and prints!
