Laura Scavo X DU LifestyleWe teamed up with Laura Scavo and Sounds of Waves to deliver you a deep Warmer Days 005.

Are you wondering who Laura Scavo is:

Laura Scavo is no stranger to the underground scene. Fueled by her passion and love for music, she spent the last several years sampling some of her most important influences from across the globe. Doing so, she developed her own unique style which is manifested through her captivating performances. Crafted with great attention, her sets deliver deep and sexy bouncy rhythms with euphoric and soulful breaks that will cast a spell on the audience and keep them on their toes throughout her entire set.

Over the past year, Laura has been making an impression on the Montreal scene, scoring gigs in clubs such as Passport, Le Cinq, Kanalbar, Redroom and being involved in one of the summers most forward-thinking events named Clockwork. More recently, she’s made her first international appearance at the legendary Pacha NYC. With a few productions cooking in the studio as well, this is just the beginning for the young and talented artist. Her charming aura will keep you wanting more on and off the dance floor.

Warmer Days 005

The International Freeski Film Festival went down this past weekend in Montreal, Quebec.  Every year this event attracts and promotes the growing ski community and showcases some of the best professional and amateur films from the season.  A few of the DU members and a whole lot of the ski community including pros came out to show support for friends, riders and idols.  The Retro party started off the weekend with a bang the first night!

Many of us woke up early Saturday morning recovering from the night and washing that hangover away with water and free North Face grilled cheeses.  Cinema Imperial packed up and a whole lot of movies were played over a four day span, with too many to name, some of the highlighted movies were Level 1 Productions – Partly Cloudy, Brotherhood Films – Our Own Way, TwoBees Media – Clair De Lune and Poor Boyz Productions – Tracing Skylines.  A shout out goes to our friends at Brotherhood Films for winning the “Best Up-and-Coming Quebec Production” and to our homie Max Morello for making a debut in the Detroit segment of Tracing Skylines.  Get your hands on these films, you don’t want to miss out!

It was that time of year again to fill the car up with your ski buddies and drive up to Montreal, Quebec for the International Freeski Film Festival.

IF3 packing up for the screening of the first film.

After a long 2 hour drive, it was nice to come to start off the festival with the screening of Sunny by Level 1 Productions. Every year I look forward to the films they put out as they continue to push our sport to new levels, from backcountry to park shoots to winches pulling you into enormously death defying features. Definitely one to be checking out this year!

Playing some kube to get the night started.

Saturday consisted of No Matter What by Meathead Films which showed some incredible trickery from Dom Laporte. Following that film was The Eighty Six by Stept Productions, this had some of the biggest and creative features in any of the movies. They really worked hard to earn “The Best Jib Flick” award, congrats!

To finish the weekend off, we woke up to a severe hangover from the infamous Rocker Party, washed that down with a few extra spicy caesars and headed over to the screening of Deja Vu by Brotherhood Films. So much local talent coming up from the Quebec area, be sure to check out this movie, and do not miss Marc Dandurand’s unbelievably kinky segment.

Overall another great year at IF3, and we look forward to the festival again next year!

Kelsey Chiappa took home 1st place at the “Wake Dans’ Rue” (The biggest urban wakeboard competition in North America!) winch comp in Drummondville.

“I missed the practice and warm up because we got stuck in Montreal traffic (added an extra 2 1/2 hours to our drive) but I thankfully had a spot in the Finals and I won. I won a giant $300 check that is going towards gas and travel fees.”

There are still 4 more stops for this series which Kelsey will try to attend!

July 7  – Sherbrooke – Place De La Gare
July 14 – Trois-Riviers – Parc Portuaire
August 4 – Brossard – Quartier DIX30
August 18 – Victoriaville (grande Finale)
